Mitzvah 03:51
Standing at the back of a mitzvah Breathing in the liquor and faith Learning from the paid food-hands how to foster Laminate counter space Nominate the discipline donor For leaving all that he owes Face into a concentrated recital Of pacifist scrutiny throes Tracheotomy Spinal lapse Dizziness upon standing Menstrual naps Splendor affidavit Window sinner, starving pause that I need to return Praised beyond a healthy prescription His collar confiscated a toast To all the silent offers of exhaled elation Loud enough to be a ghost I wish that I had something to read Stripping in the back of the yard I swear I Heard that the magician needs space Planned economy Needing a bath Busyness underhanding Time to relax Yawn to mask a favor Stretcher fee, apostrophe S and outro

Wisdom anonymous Sympathy Spartacus Idol with a mean handshake Atrophy enticed by swollen tongues Buck wild, immediate Style, a medium Best led to A lake of denial Gypsum grin and always lean Matching with the all-star team Locomotive Candied sheen Got no motive Don't wanna I don't wanna sing I don't wanna sing I don't wanna sing The truth, I'm honored By blue plate fathers To sisters that would never steal Dusted plains pitch rain into the dark Shampooed the steak, The rice, the cake The crises aligned, I ate the bait A trophy awake By generous rates Of agreement Locomotive Candied sheen Got no motive Don't wanna I don't wanna sing I don't wanna sing I don't wanna sing I don't wanna sing

Climb those dawn-kissed mountain dunes Peter down the meters of Earth's drool XLR and the stars, I feel like I'm About the sky, in the sky Saint Saint Stall the falling, captured moon Keep it low though, pastures glow when Placed in clear view My PR guy is far from the heart And the sky, in the sky Saint Saint Of common laundry

Sleeve 1/4 05:49
I'm sure you'll have to fit to find The Hebrew in the middle Cuz I'm not the kind to crucify The pit, the fool, the fiddle But the caustic canopy of your Insinuated grasp Seems to burn the very petulance We yoke unto the past I thought that I knew I thought that I knew Wincing at the recipe For profiteering clutter I was told to cry is as to try To pacify your brother But I've seen the lips of knuckled fists, And time that seems to litter As if bogged and cheering on the clause That tries to make me bitter I thought that I knew I thought that I knew And I thought that I could hear you And I thought that I could hear you And I thought that I could hear you And I thought that I could hear you And I thought that I could hear you And I thought that I could hear you And I thought that I could hear you And I thought that I could hear you And I thought that I could hear you And I thought that I could hear you

“Rivers run cleanest after a flood.” At least that’s what Terrific Lava’s fearless and peerless leader Rooster Breath told me over a plate of cheap pasta about his band’s new release, “Uptick Gala.” It is the group’s first collection of songs made accessible for public consumption after ten years of licking their own flames and subsequent wounds.

Like concrete led over a current, Uptick Gala is an operatic pining for less by giving us more. Each lyric seems to compete with the next for space in our cerebrum—establishing a dizzying barrage of scenes and seams sparkling like hard candy in a thrift shop.

Or as Rooster Breath himself described, “Like ferrets in a forest fire. Seeping through the creases of cremation, desperate and clumsy and excited.” If this is Terrific Lava’s flood, I can’t help but anticipate how next their river runs.

about

Terrific Lava California

Terrific Lava hasn't looked back. Ten years after anglicizing themselves and committing to diminished returns, the collective still mines enough social currency to clap back with tunes designed to drip and dangle in the faces of content cravers. Led by preeminent bandleader and drum-skinner Rooster Breath, this shapeshifting flock of aural shepherds embodies the edge on which their songs are cut. ... more
